IMEG provided MEP, fire protection, and technology engineering design services for the new Maine Veterans\u2019 Home in Augusta, ME.<\/p>\n
The new, 200,000-square-foot facility replaced an outdated nursing home. The 138-bed facility provides a community within its four buildings, three of which will house 10, 12, and 15-bed units designed from a \u201csmall home\u201d model. Each single-occupant unit has a kitchen, private bathroom, dining area, and den. Shared areas include dining and living rooms, a common kitchen, and a courtyard where veterans can participate in physical therapy and outdoor activities.<\/p>\n
A centralized building serves as the \u201ctown center,\u201d where residents have access to a barber\/beauty shop, ice cream shop and bistro, movie theater, veteran\u2019s club, and children\u2019s play area.
