The plan will provide a holistic approach to campus safety and will address electronic access control for the Central and North campuses (including proposed systems and options); an assessment of the current video security system and its applicability at UNM branch campuses; and recommendations on perimeter access controls including the implementation of physical barriers and license plate readers; among other possible safety measures. The plan will also include options for phased implementation over time.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">IMEG is collaborating with the already-established Campus Security Initiative Committee (CSIC), a sub-committee of the Campus Safety Task Force. The CSIC is comprised of representatives from UNM Central, North, South campuses, and branch campuses. The Campus Safety Plan will be a comprehensive plan with the following three areas of focus:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"p3\">Technology (electronic access control, video security, mobile credentials, etc.)<\/li>\n<li class=\"p3\">Physical barriers (fencing, landscaping, etc.)<\/li>\n<li class=\"p4\">Crime Prevention through Environmental Design (CPTED) Principles<\/li>\n<li class=\"p6\">Scope of Work includes:<\/li>\n<li class=\"p3\">Electronic Access Control Platform Recommendation<\/li>\n<li class=\"p3\">Video Security Platform Recommendation<\/li>\n<li class=\"p3\">Physical Barriers and Perimeter Access Control<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p3\">CPTED Recommendations: IMEG will provide recommendations that help UNM create a climate of safety by designing a physical environment that positively influences human behavior. Recommendations will align with three core principles of CPTED:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"p3\">a) Territoriality: Using buildings, fences, pavement, signs, and landscaping to express ownership of a space.<\/li>\n<li class=\"p3\">b) Natural surveillance: Placing physical features, activities, and people to maximize visibility.<\/li>\n<li class=\"p4\">c) Access control: The placement of entrances, exits, fencing, landscaping, and lighting.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>IMEG has recently been hired to assist in developing a 20-year Campus Safety Plan for the University of New Mexico.
