IMEG provided medical equipment planning services for Jackson County Regional Health Center\u2019s critical access hospital in Maquoketa, IA. Completed in early 2021, this replacement hospital serves Jackson County and the surrounding community by creating a pleasant and safe environment focused on patient-centered care. The overall design — with improved flow between departments along with improved utilities and medical equipment — is aimed at attracting healthcare professionals in the region.<\/p>\n
This replacement hospital includes one major and one minor O.R., five pre\/post bays, two PACU bays, and an adjacent central sterile department.<\/p>\n
Additionally, the emergency department includes four treatment and two trauma rooms adjacent to a med\/surg department with twelve patient rooms sharing support space. Imaging services include radiology, CT, bone density, mammography, and ultrasound. The specialty\/outreach clinic has nine exam rooms and two procedure rooms. Rehab services include five treatment rooms and a large gym with an area designated for cardiac rehab.<\/p>\n
IMEG was provided with an equipment budget and a general overview of equipment required for the new facility. The medical equipment team performed a walk-through of the existing hospital to establish existing equipment for reuse. Attending architectural design meetings, as well as conducting medical equipment meetings throughout schematic design and design development with clinical leadership, gave the IMEG team the information needed to plan and coordinate both the new and existing equipment in the new hospital.<\/p>\n
IMEG facilitated and attended both off-site and on-site presentations with clinical managers by vendors of major medical equipment that the clinical staff was considering for the project.<\/p>\n
IMEG provided an equipment budget at the onset of the project to reflect the estimated cost of new and relocated equipment. The budget was updated at major intervals throughout the project, culminating in a final budget estimate. The final budget reflected costs from quotes obtained by hospital departmental and procurement managers immediately prior to the hospital\u2019s procurement effort. This final budget was approximately $200,000 less than the approved budget.<\/p>\n
