IMEG provided structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and technology engineering design and services for a build-out of Stevens Hall (SHN) on the University of Southern California\u2019s health and science campus. The university was in need of a state-of-the-art facility to support the development of ongoing cutting-edge research and technologies. The build-out project included the organization of student areas, a dry lab, meeting spaces and offices. The renovation took advantage of existing details including high ceilings, exposed concrete walls, columns, and expansive windows to create a warm and welcoming appeal. Large windows in lab areas provide a sense of transparency and inclusiveness. To address privacy, frosted film was applied to these windows allowing an eye-level transition from clear to opaque.<\/p>\n
The mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems incorporated sustainable design features and best design practices and are in accordance with current codes and standards. These system upgrades included HVAC, lighting, power, and piping. Components of the upgrades include new fan coil units, exhaust fans, chilled beam system, lab air, and medical vacuum compressors. These new systems integrate into the existing campus Building Management System (BMS).<\/p>\n
Technology improvements to the area included a structured cabling system. The conference room has two point-to-point HDMI connections and a 65\u201d flat panel display. An upgrade to the video surveillance system included new IP-based cameras and an increase of video storage. The video surveillance system is currently integrated with the access control system for software-programmed triggering and alarm notification.<\/p>\n
