IMEG provided engineering design and service for a new seven-story (plus basement) patient care tower and central plant, along with a 50,000-sf renovation to the existing Children\u2019s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC). Spaces in the new tower included pediatric surgical suites, radiology, laboratory, pathology, and emergency department.\u00a0 The hospital now totals 300 beds and has a state-of-the-art NICU.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n CHOC is designed to be one of the safest hospitals in the country, with innovative concepts used from aerospace, aviation, and manufacturing sectors. Each private patient room is identical, with supplies and equipment located in\u00a0<\/span>exactly the same<\/span>\u00a0place to reduce errors by the healthcare team. Nursing alcoves located in each room give nurses closer access to patients.\u00a0 Engineers provided advanced ergonomic design, including curved walls and adjustable height\u00a0<\/span>work stations<\/span>.
