The building has a footprint of 750,000 square feet with working space of 525,000 square feet to accommodate more than 2,200 employees. The building is laid out utilizing a 70-foot triangular grid system adding a signature look and design to every element.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The goal:<\/strong> Create a corporate headquarters that matches NVIDIA\u2019s core beliefs and allows their employees to thrive and create in a high-tech environment.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The approach:<\/strong> IMEG collaborated closely with the architect, contractor, and steel fabricator to design the unique campus, which consists of a two-level, below-grade garage podium under a large exterior shell that encloses multiple seismically separated interior office building structures.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Challenge:<\/strong> Voyager\u2019s parking garage is designed on a 62-foot rectangular grid with the building above built on a 70-foot triangular grid. <strong>Solution:<\/strong> Significant coordination effort among all design team members was required to match framing and translate it to the parking garage.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Challenge:<\/strong> The long-span post tension structure of the level one assembly space needed to provide a solid structure rather than a \u201cbouncy\u201d structure, which is typical with long-span design. <strong>Solution:<\/strong> Structural engineers had to be mindful of the design loads and structural elements to avoid this and allow for large assemblies in the spaces above.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Outcome:<\/strong> The unique design highlights the owner\u2019s desire for meaningful, collaborative spaces at the center of the building, where a staircase leads to mezzanine levels. The reception area is situated on one side of the staircase, with more conventional offices, dining area, and meeting spaces on the other. The 40-foot ceiling features numerous triangular skylights, and the undulating roof structure lets in enough natural light to the center atrium to give employees a feeling of being outdoors.<\/p>\n<p>The project won an American Institute of Steel Construction 2024 Innovative Design in Engineering and Architecture with Structural Steel (IDEAS\u00b2) Award for Excellence in Architecture.
