We mature with technology as individuals and then we demand it as consumers and as employees.\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">This means that\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">if\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">building owners who op<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">erate a business\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">don&#8217;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">t keep up with\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">transformative building\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">technology,\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">they\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">find themselves at\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">a competitive disadvantage.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:1,&quot;335551620&quot;:1,&quot;335559740&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Building costs<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">,<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0of course, are not declining and the increased demand for\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">the latest\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">technology<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0only<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0increases the cost pressures\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">for owners<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">. The typical result is that some of the aspirational technology becomes unaffordable on a project<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0and is left on the value-engineering chopping block.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">For\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">owners to be able to\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">afford transformative technology in their\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">new\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">buildings, they\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">must<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0ring every economy of scale out of the building systems they are procuring. As just one example,\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">projects often have\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">four or five contractors installing the exact same CAT6 cabling for\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">multiple systems.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">There are measurable cost<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0savings<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0lost in this duplication of effort.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The first step\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">toward<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0affording transformational technologies in<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0new<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0buildings is to unify the\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">technology\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">design and engineering process.\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The goal of this\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">unified approach\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">i<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">s<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0to have\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">a single point of responsibility for all building systems\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">to gain<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0the consolidation necessary to achieve measurable economies of scale.
