The Army National Guard Readiness Center and Army Aviation Support Facility in Kankakee, Ill., was selected as ENR\u2019s Best of the Best Projects in the Government\/Public Building category for 2018. The project was first chosen as an ENR Midwest 2018 Best Project in the same category before advancing to the national competition.<\/p>\n
IMEG provided MEP, fire protection and technology design, as well as construction administration services for the $64.6 million, LEED Silver facility, which is designed to provide versatility for the various needs of more than 200 soldiers, approximately 40 full-time employees, and 10 UH-60 Blackhawk helicopters. The 73,000-sf Readiness Center includes flexible classrooms and conference rooms, offices, ground equipment maintenance, a weapons simulator, flight simulators, vaults and a medical clinic. The 112,000-sf Army Aviation Support Facility (AASF) supports three units of the National Guard: the 935th<\/sup>, B016 and Medivac. The facility includes maintenance hangars, shops, flight facilities, fuel distribution, a state-of-the-art fire suppression system and a cold storage hangar.<\/p>\n IMEG worked with architectural firm Bailey Edward and George Sollitt Construction Company on the project for the Illinois Department of Military Affairs.<\/p>\n
